Aceclofenac:
Aceclofenac is an NSAID with greater COX-2 specificity.
Inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX) activity and to suppress the PGE2 production by inflammatory cells, by inhibiting IL-Beta & TNF in the inflammatory cells (Intracellular action).
Blocks degeneration and stimulates of extra cellular matrix of cartilages by inhibiting the action of different cytokines.
Srimulates growth factors mediated synthesis of GAG and collagen by inhibiting IL-1 and TNF production by human chondrocytes, inflmmatory cells and synovial cells.
The short biological half life and dosing frequency more than one per day make Aceclofenac an ideal candidate for sustained release.
To reduce the frequency of administration and to improve patient compliance, a once daily sustained release formula of Aceclofenac is desirable.
